Learning which key to hold down when clicking to get a new tab is difficult because it changes depending on what you're doing. It's infuriating and severely impacts on the enjoyment of using Firefox on a Mac.

Examples:
New tab for search results from Google search box: Option-Enter
New tab for bookmarked page from toolbar: Cmd-Click
New tab when entering a URL: Option-Enter
New tab clicking on a link: Cmd-click

There's a pattern here, but it's a lot more difficult to learn than the modifier always being the same key. Additionally, Safari uses Cmd for all these actions, so Safari users have to unlearn some, but not all, of their behaviour for opening new tabs.

Any chance of making Cmd-Enter open a new tab when typing in the Address or Search bars please?

Reproducible: Always
Reproduced. Native new tab modifier for Mac is Cmd-Enter, not Option-Enter.
Severity: normal → S3
