A recurring problem people seek support for is having accidentally turned on caret browsing (I'm assuming by hitting F7 and then making the wrong choice in the dialog) and then not understanding why scrolling is now "broken". Especially if the F7 shortcut is kept (see bug 374292) I think it would help if there was some visible indicator that you are in caret browsing, offering a hint or way to turn it off. Suggestion: put "Caret Browsing Enabled (F7 to toggle)" on the status bar while this feature is on. Clicking the indicator could pop up a dialog similar to the one you get when hitting F7, and if it does the "(F7 to toggle)" in the indicator may not be necessary. I think this is important because even if people notice the caret they have no good way to find out how to turn it off. There is no menu entry, and depending on the page the caret may not be easy to spot (or visible at all until a movement key is hit). If an indicator on the status bar is considered too noisy for people who *do* use caret browsing fixing bug 165362 (add caret browsing to the menu) might also help.
