User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20090918 SeaMonkey/2.1a1pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20090918 SeaMonkey/2.1a1pre Just as said above, sometimes Seamonkey won't save username from the form, actually saving empty field, but password is saved okay. In Preferences -> "Password management" the situation is the same, you'll see password is saved and username field is empty. When trying to automatically login sites using saved info, the results are predictable. You have to delete the saved entry and re-save the password. Note that this happened to me on bugzilla registration and a small number of other sites, three or four, unfortunately I don't remember which. Probably it is also important that commonly for all such issues I've done a mistype in login field on the first try, but didn't push the save button of course. On the saving of second try happened situation described in title. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Register on any site, featuring login/password scheme 2. On first logon, try misspelling username, but put password correctly 3. Log on, watch the password saving bar, go back, relogin correctly 4. Save password now, have a look at Preferences -> Saved passwords These steps are not guaranteed to bring the results, but I guess so. Actual Results: Three or four times I've managed to save broken login/password combo. Sometimes it works fine, probably depends on site. Expected Results: I've expected usernames and passwords to be stored correctly, not depending on previous misspellings. Still I didn't worked out any step-by-step reproduction guidelines. But the bug is obviously present.
Summary: Passwords are saved, but user logins are sometimes saved as empty → [SeaMonkey 2.1] Passwords are saved, but user logins are sometimes saved as empty
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Component: Passwords & Permissions → Password Manager
Product: SeaMonkey → Toolkit

Please reproduce the problem and attach debugging per https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:Password_Manager_Debugging
I have the same problem on Firefox (v12). I have perhaps 40 password entries and there are 7 of them that show a password, but no user name. So this is definitely a real problem. I can't say what the procedure to reproduce is, but the original problem report is probably close since they look like sites where I've had trouble remembering what my user name is.
I should also say that I'm on Windows 7.
I don't think this bug is actionable as-is (partly because there is no testcase or URL) and we have various bugs related to a lack of username which are actionable and some of them have already been fixed or will likely be fixed in the coming months. If you are still seeing empty usernames, please file a new bug in this component with a URL to the page where only a password was saved. We can use per-site recipes to workaround heuristics on specific sites. Notes on related improvements: * The remember password doorhanger now allows manually modifying the username we detect (or adding one) * Bug 1001765 will make the management interface editable * Bug 1016051 will help fixing existing logins when we find the username on a future submission Thanks
