If the foremost window is the download manager, Command-N does not open a new browser window, Command-Shift-M does not open a new email, etc. Nor does the file menu contain any options for "New."
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Download Manager on a Mac.
2. Press the key combos for new window, email etc. or look in the File menu and observe lack of "New" sub-menu.
Actual Results:
Nothing happens for key combos and/or menu options are not present.
Expected Results:
Key combos should produce expected result of creating new window, email, etc. and New sub-menu should be present under File.
If you bring an existing browser/mail/etc. window to the front you can then open a new window, but you should not have to take this extra step.

This bug report doesn't tell anything about the version, so it's hard to tell
if it was before we rewrote our download manager in a way that probably handles this now.
Please reopen if this still applies to 2.x versions.

Er, sorry, it actually does, and I mistook things.
Stefan, does this still happen? How can we fix it?

You can open stuff from the window menu, since we have that in the DM now. But the DM file menu has no sub-menu where you can open a new window etc. I would say it's partially fixed - the new menubar used in the DM now takes care of the basics. We could fix this by making the available menus in the DM have more items.
The real fix is hard, mac apps only have one menubar for the whole application containing all the needed menus. The Mozilla solution for mac is to move the window's menubar from the window to the top of the desktop. iotw we need a better mac-specific menubar which we can overlay all windows in SM.
Marking this New, as this is still present, and not only on Mac
