Hi Steven. As we discussed, we'd like to replace the Firefox vs IE/Safari chart on the download page with new content about the mission. The content is below, and just to be clear, it should be updated on all three pages that have the comparison chart: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html Here's the content...let me know if you have any questions: Section Header: Mission Mini-Headline: Making the Web Better Body Copy: We believe the Internet is a public resource that must remain open and accessible to all. As public benefit software, every Firefox download supports the Mozilla mission of encouraging choice, innovation and opportunity on the Web. Link: Learn more about the Mozilla Foundation. (points to http://www.mozilla.org/) Image: Can be a screenshot that roughly follows the size and placement of the one on http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html#feature-newfeatures. I'd like to use http://www.mozilla.org/causes/ as the source material, and recommend zooming out a bit from the new features one so more of the content is visible.
This is setup in trunk (r52556). It can be previewed here: https://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html Before going live, I'll need to replace the screenshot with an optimized PNG (the screenshots in there right now are too large/slow to download). Also note that there is a Mac screenshot and a Vista screenshot.
This is looking good, thanks Steven. Just one request: can you scoot down the what we see in the screenshot so we see more of the content beneath the "Our Causes" header instead of the mozilla.org masthead? I'm concerned that prominently showing off the mozilla.org URL on a mozilla.com page will be confusing...also, the part below "Our Causes" feels more related to the text. Are we still on track for publishing this tomorrow? Thanks!
(In reply to comment #2) > Are we still on track for publishing this tomorrow? Yup - I'll make the screenshot adjustments tomorrow morning.
The screenshots have been updated according the comment #2 and optimized for better download times (r52596). John, is that what you had in mind?
Looks exactly right...thanks! Let me know what files to push (for all three versions) and I'll get right on it.
You'll want to push the files listed here: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc?revision=52556&view=revision Note that two new files, two modified files, and four removed files (old images).
Pushed, but I got a weird error message in the process. Stephen D, can you check back in a little while to verify? Thanks all!
