User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4pre) Gecko/20090915 Lightning/1.0pre Thunderbird/3.0b4 If one enables "Allow Spotlight to Search Messages", downloading activity is not reported in the Activity Manager. Indexing is also not reported, but, as that's an OS activity, it's not clear whether that's even possible. Note: This is closely related to bug 519747. I chose to report them separately as the rewording of Activity Manager messages, if deemed appropriate, would be seemingly easier than having Activity Manager report activities it does not now report. Reproducible: Always

This seems to be at odds with bug 519747 where you indicate the there is info in the activity manager about downloading. And you are correct, the manager isn't going to track OS activity.
