Description

I noticed this as a result of investigations for bug 519951.

STR:

1) With the bloat tests, set preferences as per attachment.

=> What's new page will be shown on startup.

2) Run the bloat tests (the first, reference count part is the vital bit).

3) Once Address Book & Compose windows have been displayed, switch to the 3-pane mail tab before Thunderbird shuts down.

Expected Results -> no leaks in log

Actual Results -> leaks (will attach a log).

If you have bug 519951 applied it doesn't fix this, but it does mean that there are no leaks if you skip step 3.

Posted file Leak Log
I forgot to say, at step 3, closing the what's new tab instead of switching to the 3 pane also causes the issue, but from a code point of view there isn't significant differences.

I've just done a few more tests, from what I've seen it isn't switching to the 3 pane tab that is the problem (I'm not quite sure why it seemed to be previously), it is just if you close the content tab then it leaks a lot.
Summary: Starting up with What's New page and switching to 3-pane tab causes a lot of reference count leaks → Starting up with What's New page and closing tab causes a lot of reference count leaks

I've just retested this, and its working fine now. I suspect this was fixed by bug 557477, but I can't be sure, so marking as WFM.
