User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090825 SeaMonkey/1.1.18
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090825 SeaMonkey/1.1.18

In Facebook cannot enter "what's on your mind" input box ... any keystroke is sent to first instance of character on page. Tried changing preferences, etc. but could enter text in box before update to .18.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.SeaMonkey
2.Login to Facebook
3.Try to enter "what's on your mind"
Actual Results:
any keystroke with cursor clicked on the box is sent to first instance of character on page.

Expected Results:
Input box should have allowed entry of free text.

For Facebook users, this is major ... I've started using Chrome for facebook

I confirm this occurs every time. I am able to reproduce the error every time. I suspect the web page load event is trapping a CTRL click and this throws Seamonkey into a CTRL - Find loop.

Nothing will go in the box, neither CTRL-V, nor repeatedly clicking on the edit box itself. Error was not in 1.1.17, suggesting something has changed and needs to picked up in Regression Testing.

BTW, the bug does not occur in Netscape 9.0.5. which is the only other Mozilla based browser I have installed.

I am using Windows 7 RC1 for the time being.
Can you reproduce with Firefox v2.0.0.20?
Or SeaMonkey v2.0rc1?

Facebook is notorious for breaking its interface due to user-agent sniffing. (See for example Bug 497384). Can anyone reproduce this bug if the user-agent is changed to Firefox, IE, or some other more popular browser?
This is a dupe of bug 516842.
This issue also occurs in 1.1.18 and 2.0 for Mac OSX.
