Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4pre) Gecko/20090930 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.5.2 Build Identifier: 3.0b4pre I have about eight email accounts that I use in TB. One of those email accounts is a company one that I monitor, but whose contents I do not need to see in with my other seven accounts. What I'd like to do is make it so its contents do not show up under my smart folders. Currently, I can right click on the smart folder, go to properties, and adjust where it searches, but that does not remove the folder from being listed when the smart folder is expanded. On the flip side, if I right click a smart folder, go to properties, and then ADD a folder I want it to search, I'd expect that to be listed under the smart folder as well, however that does not happen either. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Right click the inbox smart folder (for example), go to properties 2. Unlick the box next to the inbox for a given account. 3. Return to your inbox smart folder. 4. Note that the deselected items are no longer IN the smart folder, yet the folder still shows up below the smart folder when it is expanded. Expected Results: I'd expect that the account would no longer show up. Doing the inverse, I'd expect newly selected folders TO show up.

Whilst this would be an interesting avenue to take smart folders, we wouldn't block the release of Thunderbird 3 on it, especially as it would extend the feature, possibly need new strings and we're now locking down in final preparation for the release.

Given the way the smart folders are presented this is exactly how smart folders should behave. To whoever designed it like this: I fail to see why you have two separate folder lists associated with each smart folder.

Under Release Candidate 2 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091130 Lightning/1.0b1pre Thunderbird/3.0), I'm seeing a similar behavior. I expect that when a folder is added to the smart folder search list, it will be added to the expanded list for said smart folder. You can't drag and drop folders into that expanded list, so there doesn't seem to be any way to configure the source list.

I think there are two paths here bug 532061 removes the properties option on smart folders as we never intended them to be edited in that way. However I think this would be an interesting approach to take for editing smart folders outside of the current editing.

Either way should be done as soon as possible, though I have to admit I like the more complicated option (editing smart folders).
