User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090923 Galeon/2.0.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090909 Fedora/3.5.3-1.fc11 Firefox/3.5.3
New clean install of Fedora11. Firefox loaded automatically.
Firefox will not start from the desktop (GUI).
Firefox will start from Terminal Session (as su - not user) but gives the following errors
(firefox:9411): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
None of the authentication protocols specified are supported.
Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)
I have add/remove Firefox using Fedora11 package and rebooted between add / remove.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. New Fedora11 install.
2. Firefox installed as part of Fedora11 install.
3. Start Firefox from desktop icon.
Actual Results:
Nothing (observable) happens.
Expected Results:
Firefox should open.
Galeon web browser that uses gecko and necko has been installed as a replacement (temporary) and it seem to wrok fine - no problems to report.

The Fedora 11 install comes from and ISO image on Australian Personal Computing (APC) magazine October 2009.

You should report this problem to Fedora. It sounds like it isn't installed correctly for one reason or another so you'll need to report this to the ones doing the installing. This needs to be checked out on their end.
You can just download Firefox from Mozilla.org instead of using the package manager, if you wish. If that still fails then feel free to reopen, but as filed this is invalid as it's not a bug in a Mozilla build.

First of all, please do not email people on Bugzilla directly. Please post only in the bug.
Secondly, this is not a Fedora support forum. This is not a support forum in general. Fedora has their own build using their own configuration using their own system libraries, and every distro does their own different thing. If their default install of their Firefox build isn't working then you need to report this to them, not Mozilla.

Agreed. Please re-open if you can repro with an official Mozilla build.

Hello:
I have the same problem with Mandriva 2010 and using official builds from Mozilla, for Firefox and Thunderbird:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; es-ES; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100316 Firefox/3.6.2
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; es-ES; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 Thunderbird/3.0.4
Sometimes, when I try to open Mozilla Firefox or Thunderbird, I get the same error. If you get this error, it appears every time you try to open Firefox or Thunderbird. I have to close my kde session and reopen it, if I want to avoid this error.
I had sent this error to technical support from Mandriva, but I have no answer about this.
http://blogdrake.net/consulta/fallos-aleatorios-al-arrancar-firexox-thunderbird
NOTE: When I sent this error to Mandriva technical support, I had a Thunderbird from Mandriva, but now I have an official Mozilla build, and error occurs as before. This error affects Firefox and Thunderbird, equally and randomly. The first time that this error appeared, was after installing the official Firefox build for security reasons.
Please, let me know If you need more information.
Best regards.

I want to clarify that this error appears to me as an normal user and starting normally from the desktop icons, not from a console as root. But if I try as root and from a console, I got this error all the times and again, when I try it as normal user after to that as root user.
Best regards.
