"one-pane" mode in mailbox windows doesn't stick across restarts or mailbox closures as in Mac Eudora 6.2.4.

I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to Eudora. Back in the 6.x or 5.x days when they added message previews at the bottom of a mailbox window, I hated it. I quickly discovered that I could drag the separator bar between the message list and the preview all the way down and the preview would go away -- and STAY away -- in every mailbox window.
When I moved to Eudora 8.0b7, I noted that I could do the same thing here,
Except it doesn't stick.
If I close a mailbox window, and then new mail arrives in that window (using "open mailbox windows when new mail arrives in them" mode), Eudora insists on resizing the message preview pane and showing me the header of a freshly-received message. Worse still, some of that message's text overwrites the status bar at the bottom of the window.
If I quit Eudora with one or more mailbox windows open and restart it, all the open mailbox windows have this flaw.
So I find myself constantly dragging the separator bar down to close the intensely unwanted preview pane.
Reproducible: Always

It's actually a separate setting. Go to Eudora->Preferences->Penelope, and turn off the "Show message preview pane" checkbox.
