We support HTML5 <video> with Ogg Theora codec (see http://diveintomark.org/archives/2008/12/19/give-part-2-lossy-video-codecs for an overview of existing codecs). For youtube videos to play in Firefox without Flash, they need to
a) use <video> instead of Flash (which they're experimenting with - http://www.youtube.com/html5 )
- AND -
b) use a codec we support (Theora). Last I heard they were not going to do that (http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news/2009/07/decoding-the-html-5-video-codec-debate.ars ).

We obviously won't automatically replace Flash objects that implement video players with <video> (the site has to choose to use <video> - (a) above) and there are no plans to support H.264 at this moment (see bug 495340).
