On the home page of the new Jetpack gallery...

What is a Jetpack?

Jetpack is a newly formed experiment in using open Web technologies to enhance the browser, with the goal of allowing anyone who can build a Web site to participate in making the Web a better place to work, communicate and play.

It seems convoluted and marketese-y to me. I look at that block of text and my eyes go numb. Since it's the main (actually, the only) copy above the fold on the home page, I suggest something more comprehensible and useful, like a bulleted list of the main points you want to get across.

I'm no wordsmith,

* New experiment in the open Web
* Simple tools for enhancing the browser
* Easy-to-use for anyone

At the very least, we should link to a page with more detailed information.

BUT, really this is a one-time question/answer, targeted at new users only. Instead, you could answer the question "What can I do on this website?" (again, not a wordsmith)

* Find out what a Jetpack is
* Search/browse for Jetpacks
* Check out the most popular Jetpacks
* Find out how to make your own. It's easy!
* yada yada

I really hope this is helpful and not overly picky. If not, sorry.
The production version of the Jetpack introduction text is very different from the text in this bug, I believe it is much easier to understand now.

As for the latter bullet list of concerns, we will be addressing the load and share of them here:
Severity: normal → minor
Priority: -- → P3
