Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009091008 Iceweasel/3.0.6 (Debian-3.0.6-3)

Hello,

I can remember when the input field history for forms was ordered by last use (or maybe relevance, which might be the most often used history entry).

Now, I guess since FF 3, it is sorted alphabetically. I don't think this is a good idea.

I am very certain that the behavior was different before - if it was changed on purpose, it think it would be nice to have an option (at least in about:config) to change it back.

Haven't tested the behavior on windows though.

The ordering in the quick search engine history field is alphabetic too, but I don't know if this was different at some time.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Take a form and submit a text field with "a", then "b", "c", submit "b" again
2. Go into the field and use "down" key to show history, what you get is "a, b, c"
Actual Results:
"a, b, c"

Expected Results:
"b, a, c"
First, please update to Firefox 3.5.3 or later. Iceweasel is not an official Firefox build, and the version you are running is pretty old. I then suggest you go to support.mozilla.com, as this is not a place that can help with support questions.
It sounds like you are referring to a new feature in Mozilla 1.9.2 called "Improved Form History": https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Namoroka/Improved_form_history

Sorting by frecency was added in bug 370117

@comment 1 Thanks for your comment. The version is the most stable debian build and changing the name to iceweasel is probably not the reason why it's broken.

@comment 2 Thanks a lot, seems I just have to wait for the newest version. :)
