The plug-in check
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
tells me that Quicktime 7.1 is an outdated version.
Clicking 'update' next to it sends the browser to
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
On this page it displays the choices:
QuickTime 7.6.4 for Leopard
QuickTime 7.6.4 for Tiger
neither of which appear applicable to this Windows 2000 machine.
Maybe 'update' button should not appear if there are no updates available for that operating system?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QuickTime#QuickTime_7.x:
"Apple dropped support for Windows 2000 with the release of QuickTime 7.2 on July 11, 2007.[46] The last version available for Windows 2000, 7.1.6, contains numerous security vulnerabilities.[47] References to this version have been removed from the QuickTime site, but it can be downloaded from Apple's support section.[48] Apple has not indicated that they will be providing any further security updates for older versions. QuickTime 7.2 is the first version for Windows Vista."
Austin/Les: any way to special-case this for Windows-2000 users?
