'Show in conversation' for single message from header dropdown not working if next message from same sender is unread

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have a folder with two mails from the same sender, sort by age ascending, mark the messages unread (here they had also the same subject).
2. Select the older one and open the dropdown from the header. "Show in conversation" is greyed out.
3. Select the newer message (also gets marked as unread).
4. Go back to older message and try the dropdown, now it works.

Actually, "Show in Conversation" is missing *Entirely* from latest builds. :(

I really liked this feature.  I hope it comes back before release!!

It works for me in email.  Note that Gloda doesn't currently handle NNTP, so show in conversation isn't enabled for Newsgroups.

I'm using IMAP email and have local folders as well.  Neither give me the option.

I'm on this build (which I'm noticing is quite old)
Gecko/20090915 Thunderbird/3.0b4

So This might be a user error.  I upgraded my machine and thought I got the right installer and after trying an online update I was offered no new version.  

So let me look into this and get back to this message.  Looks like I'll be a happy camper again :)

As to comment #0, the issue is likely not read/unread but 'indexed/not indexed'.  There's not much we can do about the latter, except to identify issues with the gloda indexing sweep algorithm.  

It's gotten a lot better since comment #0 was filed, though, so I'm inclined to close this bug until we have evidence otherwise.

Now it's not anymore greyed out, but only shows the currently selected message.
