522639 - Thunderbird Start Page no longer allows last page to be presented at startup ??

When Thunderbird first starts, the folder that is displayed shows numerous messages but the message view window shows the contents of the Inbox directory 
/home/rengland/.thunderbird/b8l05oyd.default/Mail/mail.verizon.com/Inbox
as a single large message.  This takes for ever to load. 

If, while it is loading, I select a message to view, it is viewed correctly and the loading of the Inbox file stops.  If I select another mail folder to view, the same thing will happen again.

I've deleted the msf files and had then regenerated but it does not help

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open Thunderbird
2.look at the message text being displayed 
3. Inbox, not blank or text of a single message.

In the "General" preferences, the "Thunderbird Start Page" location was set to display the "Inbox" directory in ./thunderbird/*.default/Mail/Inbox.

This caused the entire Inbox to be displayed in the Start Page which took forever (relatively).  Setting this to the default location, or just disabling it, seems to corrected the slow startup but now the window just comes up blank.  I can live with that but it appears to be a regression, or at least a change from previous versions.

This has been carried over through several versions of Thunderbird so I have no idea when it was first set up. Originally this seemed to cause the last email in the Inbox or the last one views (can't remember) to be displayed.

This no longer appears to be the case.

wierd, never heard of start being set to inbox.

RLEngland what's your present status when using v3.0.x - is all OK now?

After making the change indicated in my comment of 2009-10-17 everything seems to be working fine. 

I am currently running  
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100330 Fedora/3.0.4-1.fc12 Lightning/1.0b2pre Thunderbird/3.0.4
