User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.3 Safari/531.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091015 Calendar/1.0pre Using Bedework-3.5 (fully patched on the 3.5-RELEASE branch) and Mozilla Sunbird either 0.9 or the latest nightly (the one in the Build Identifier field). I have the following users and calendars: - userA - cal1 - cal2 - userB - cal3 - userC - cal4 I have setup Mozilla Sunbird to authenticate as userA on calendars 'cal1', 'cal2', 'cal3' and 'cal4'. 'userA' has read/write rights on all those calendars, and is as show above owner of 'cal1' and 'cal2'. The two calendars for which I'm the owner ('cal1' and 'cal2') are functioning correctly. I can add/edit/delete events. And now for the bug itself: there seems to be a very strange UI refresh bug on the two other calendars: I can add/edit/delete events but the events disappear using that pattern: 1. the events shown are the ones created during the current Sunbird run; if I close and restart Sunbird, no events will be shown at all for these two calendars 2. if I'm adding an event on 'cal3', 'cal4' events disappear 3. whenever I add an event on 'cal3', the events on 'cal3' that were created during the current Sunbird execution (cf. point 1) are shown 4. whenever I add an event on 'cal3', the events on 'cal4' that were created during the current Sunbird execution (cf. point 1) disappear if they were displayed (this is a sort of corollary of points 2 and 3) 5. the events that were entered and that are either displaying or hidden are correctly persisted in the backend, and every other CalDAV client we're using (iPhones, Bedework's own webapp, Outlook with ZideOne) has no problem seeing it, etc Of course I'm willing to give an account on a Bedework server to help solve the issue, and to give you any trace that might interest you, both server-side and client-side. I'm reading the CalDAV spec right now so I can better understand what's going on. Thanks a lot for this great product, we are having a successful deployment right now and are looking to let users be able to take appointments for one another directly in their calendars, as this is an important feature for us. Apologies for putting Severity to Major, but I feel that it is a step above Normal as it defeats the purpose of having a vision on colleagues' calendars; I hope you won't find that pushy. Thanks again for Sunbird! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Add a remote CalDAV calendar where your account is not the owner. See bug details for further information. Actual Results: Weird UI behaviour. See bug details for further information. Expected Results: Sunbird shoud, have displayed the events in both the remote calendars 'cal3' and 'cal4' at all times.
do you have the cache turned on for any of these calendars?
Hi Bruno, No cache for all the calendars.
Summary: CalDAV cals where not owner don't display events → CalDAV calendars where not owner don't display events
Hi, is there a way to place a bounty on that bug?
There is no official way to set bounties on bugs. Have you ever used the cache with more than one calendar? Please try removing calendar-data/cache.sqlite in your profile. Also, please enable calendar.debug.log and calendar.debug.log.verbose in the advanced config editor and attach the log created in the error console. Especially the part just after creating an event on cal3/cal4 would be interesting.
I take it that the cache DB is called calendar-data/local.sqlite. I didn't have any other file in that directory. I nuked it but the results stay the same. After a bit more investigation, and using the debug settings, here are two transcripts. I'm logged as user 'pierre', my own CalDAV calendar is called 'Perso', and I have two other calendars that are owned by two other users; these two calendars are called 'Bruno' and 'Yann'. The first transcript is just starting the Sunbird nightly without any cache. I can see my events, but not any events in either Bruno nor Yann. There are interesting errors in the log. What's interesting is the second transcript, I create an event for Yann, it is successful and I see it in the monthly view. But this time I just went back a month earlier in the view (with the backwards arrow in the UI), then came back to the current month with the forwards arrow. The Yann event had already disappeared. Tell me if you need anything, or to reiterate if you need accounts on a test server, we'll be happy to provide it. Thanks a lot, let me know.
I have found a workaround, by subscribing to the subscription instead of the original calendar. Not sure why it didn't work before. Probably because a single calendar in error can trigger the bug even though the other ones load fine. You can mark the bug as WONTFIX if you choose to. Thanks!
