number of crashes across all firefox releases has more than doubled on this signature over the last couple of months.  maybe due to people migrating up to latest quicktime releases 7.6.4.0 and 7.6.5.0

This is quite common in crash automation with the same top frame but a variety of different lower frames but they all have in common:  QTAudioDeviceContextCreate:AudioContextInitialize failed just before the crash. This is with QuickTime 7.7.1.0 on Windows XP and Windows 7 and all branches Beta, Aurora, Nightly.

Kev, can we get someone at Apple to look into this?

A new twist is the addition on all branches of a relatively small number of

ABORT: CRT ERROR R6010 (if you have the patch to report them) associated with the fatal assertion

Assertion failed: ptr_ != NULL, file c:\work\mozilla\builds\aurora\mozilla\ipc\chromium\src\base/scoped_ptr.h, line 93

though these aren't reliably reproducible.

we don't test with this automatically any more since qt is click to play. We can just mark this wontfix since a) it isn't our bug and b) they won't fix it.
