Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091017 SeaMonkey/2.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091017 SeaMonkey/2.0

Under Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings | Server Settings, checking the pref for "Ask me before downloading [500] messages" doesn't remain checked upon exiting the Account Settings dialog box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. Pick a news server, then select Server Settings under the name of that server.
2. Tick the checkbox for "Ask me before downloading [500] messages"
3. Click OK to exit the Account Settings dialog box.
4. Repeat Step 1.
Actual Results:
The server setting ticked in the above steps will be found unticked; the pref isn't retained upon exiting the Account Settings dialog.

Expected Results:
Expected behavior would be for SM to retain the ticked pref (of course).

Personally seeing this on Win XP Pro SP3, but the behavior has been confirmed by two users with Linux platforms. Definitely problematic when subscribing to new groups or resubscribing to groups after a server change--20,000+ headers take some time to process, even with high speed access.
And confirmed on:
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4)
Gecko/20091017 Lightning/1.0pre SeaMonkey/2.0
I had posted this problem on 30.5.2009 to de.comm.software.mozilla.nightly-build. <4A20DE79.5010905@hfigge.myfqdn.de>
This should help to determine the regression range.
I can confirm it with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091022 SeaMonkey/2.0.1pre
