STR:

1. Load the Firefox forum: http://support-stage.mozilla.org/en-US/forum/1
2. Click on the "Type" column-sort heading: http://support-stage.mozilla.org/en-US/forum/1?comments_threshold=0&comments_offset=0&thread_sort_mode=type_desc

Expected:

Either "normal" or "solved" should be first, with the other filling in the remainder

Actual:

"normal" threads are first, followed by some "solved" threads, followed by yet more "normal" threads (they're interspersed)

This probably has to do with how we sort them that way by default, stuff conflicting. I'm hoping this isn't too complicated, but can't get to it until tomorrow.
I'm hoping bug 524793, which is very similar, will address this as well.

It appears that sorting works for threads a given page, but it does not sort over the entire forum. Not sure how to fix this.

Sorting the entire forum by type is very intensive given our current forums implementation. For performance reasons, this probably needs to wait until we improve the way forums work.
