Then, in the downloads manager, all the files are deleted. I think that when I cancel the private browsing, the downloads are continued, however, I've never seen my downloads. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.In normal browsing, download a big file 2.Then, enter in private browsing 3.Come back in normal mode
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091029 Shiretoko/3.5.5pre I tested this and it works fine for me. You possibly inadvertently changed a setting or maybe an extension caused it. Please try to reproduce with a new profile / in safe-mode: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile

Yes, after exiting the private browsing session, your regular downloads will resume. Of course problems may happen if a download is actually not resumable, but the web server tells Firefox otherwise...
This bug is very annoying because many downloads can't be resumed (this happened to me after 2h of download (!) with Firefox 16).
Checked this on Firefox Aurora with a 200MB and 1GB download. I opened private browsing windows while downloading, then closed them. The downloads persisted, and the resulting files worked fine.
eichi237, Can you reproduce this consistently? Can you give me a sample URL where you know this behavior happens?

The problem is: files you download from some sites cannot be resumed (rapishare, mediafire, mega, etc). If you're not registered, you have **** download rates, so downloads takes many many time. The actual behavior is: downloads are paused, and when exiting private browsing mode, it try to resume, but it's strange (the downloads needs to be paused only if the user request it). The desired behavior is: downloads are not affected by private browsing mode (less confusing for the user, who can still see the list of downloads, and continue downloading).

I'm not seeing this issue with per-window private browsing. Can you please try to reproduce this bug on Firefox 20 or later? Thanks

(In reply to eichi237 from comment #6) > The desired behavior is: downloads are not affected by private browsing mode > (less confusing for the user, who can still see the list of downloads, and > continue downloading). This is exactly what per-window PB gives you!
