See (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/3/480233?) for discussion. We recently updated Configuring AVG Internet Security (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Configuring+AVG+Internet+Security) since AVG addons caused an issue (http://support.mozilla.com/en/kb/Window+shakes). That article covers the paid version with the firewall. However, the free version of AVG Anti-virus represents a much larger number of users (since it's free). It has the same two intrusive extensions for Firefox - they are installed automatically, switch your search provider, and can cause unrequested traffic (not as much as old versions, though). This article covers how to disable the add-ons that got installed automatically - in Firefox, and in AVG. It also reassures people that they're still protected by their antivirus component and that Firefox has phishing/malware protection. I'll have a draft shortly.
Draft is up.
Draft was renamed "Controlling AVG Firefox Add-ons" http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Controlling+AVG+Firefox+Add-ons
The bug URL has been updated. Marking FIXED for review.
