While running smoketests on Firefox 3.5.5 build 1 on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10), I found that the ogg theora video test case wouldn't pass. All attempts to play ogg theora video cause video to play for a second or two and then to stop. Buffering of the video will continue but attempts to pause and play have no effect. The same problem was observed in Firefox 3.5.4 and 3.5.3 and the 1.9.2 nightly build on Ubuntu 9.10. This was with both Ubuntu's mozilla profile and a clean one
Trying the same video on Ubuntu 9.04 saw the same problem with Firefox 3.5.5 build 1 and Firefox 3.5.4.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Open http://media.tinyvid.tv/1vma58j1o7ipu.ogg
2. Choose "play" after the video has partially or fully buffered
Expected Result: Video should play.

Is this on a real machine or in a VM? If it's in a VM, what virtualization software are you using?

It is a virtual machine running in VMware Fusion 3.
Juanb, were you using Fusion 2 or 3 in your tests?

Sound in VMWare seems to be rather fundamentally broken, see bug 495895 comment 61.

Do Ogg videos still not play in up-to-date VMWare Fusion in trunk? Can we close this bug?

Depends on the version of Ubuntu in question. I've seen this in 10.10 recently.
