User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 Firefox/3.5.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 Firefox/3.5.4

This has happened on a number of occasions. I close Firefox. Then later I need to reopen it, and it hangs. It won't open. Then I have to forcibly shut the process down with "Process Explorer". Other times it will open with the last web page that was opened, and it will also display my log-in info (no password), just user name. I have the options set so that all my history is cleared when Firefox closes. Most of the time it operates the way it should. But occasionally it behaves as stated above. I'm not liking this. I believe in very secure browsing.

Can you provide a URL where this happens somewhat consistently? Have you tried running in safe mode to see if that avoids the problem?
If Firefox crashes or is killed then it can't run the function that clears history. The bug we can deal with (if we get more information) is whatever is causing your copy of Firefox to hang. Could be multiple different issues I suppose... I think you're going to need help from http://support.mozilla.com forums to figure it out. They'll ask questions like does it happen in a fresh profile or in safe-mode, what addons, plugins, or other applications you have installed, and things like that.

If you're getting crashes they should be reported to us and you can get the IDs we'd need to gather more info by opening about:crashes. But if you're killing Firefox in process explorer there won't be anything there.

As a workaround to the non-cleared history (which is behaving as expected given the presence of the buggy behavior above) you can make sure you start and shut-down Firefox after having to forcibly quit Firefox. Then you can restart it and do whatever you had planned to do.

Reporter, please update if it works fine in safe mode or try creating a new profile.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
