after installing build 2000091408, started the browser without a dial-up
connection established. instead of the message (cannot find home page yada yada
yada)and the browser still running, i received a blank text box with a
mozilla-bin title, then moz shut down.

Reproducible: Always

1.start moz without a dial-up connection established

I crash as well if homepage is set to a page on web.
I don't crash if homepage is a blank page.

This may be a separate bug from from Bug 40964 because this one surfaced just 
recently, and 40964 has been around for months and I've never had a crash while 
launching Mozilla, while offline, until recently.

either by design or as a by-product of another bug fix, i think this bug has
been squashed. marking resolved WFM.
