Details
(Whiteboard: win7 3.6Br2)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b2) Gecko/20091108 Firefox/3.6b2 I have two instances of Firefox running; 3.6b1 and 3.6b2 (different profiles, -no-remote). 3.6b1 was launched first, then 3.6b2. If I right click on 3.6b2 on the task bar, I get a submenu item "Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta 2". When I click on this I get a new Firefox 3.6b1 window instead of a Firefox 3.6b2 window. STR: 1. Start Firefox 3.6b1 2. Start Firefox 3.6b2 -P -no-remote and select a different profile 3. Right click the icon on the task bar for Firefox 3.6 Beta 2 4. Click "Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta 2" 5. Click Help > About Mozilla Firefox 6. Check the version of Firefox Result: Firefox version for the new window is 3.6b1 Expected: Firefox version for the new window should be 3.6b2 (or whatever version of Firefox corresponds to the task bar icon clicked)

I think Jim might have a better idea what's going on here. To clarify, you have two fx icons on your taskbar: one for b1, one for b2?
correct. one on the left is 3.6b1, one on the right is 3.6b2

How did you pin them? sounds like -no-remote isn't in the pinned shortcut.
This is without pinning them. Is pinning them required? FYI, I tried to reproduce this today and I'm seeing a different issue: "Another Firefox process is running but not responding" error when trying to open using the taskbar submenu. Is this a known issue?

The taskbar code isn't part of shell integration so moving to General since this is regarding browser/components/wintaskbar/WindowsJumpLists.jsm
