I'd like to have one of the new minis cracked open so we can test build performance with various combinations of:
- 2 GB vs 4 GB RAM
- 5400rpm drive vs a different, faster (10krpm?) drive

Opening minis now voids the Applecare warranty, and is something I recommend against. That said, while the memory comparison could be done by purchasing minis with either 2 or 4 gigs, but the drive comparison would be impossible since Apple does not offer options for faster drives.

If we're going to consider using minis as build slaves, we need to use something faster than a 5400rpm drive.
How often have we used Applecare warranty? I think it's worth voiding the warranty on at least one machine to do the experiment at least.

Sorry, I am out of the loop on why minis are being considered for this, but if faster drive speeds are required then Mac minis are not an option.
