Sometimes, my shredder just starts shredding.  

It takes over my box and I cannot get out of the hard run loop.  I have a sample for you.

I really don't know how to reproduce this and I don't know what I do to get it in this state.  Usually it's not long after I have opened my computer from sleep.

But it doesn't happen every single time.

Clint, how long have you waited before giving up? I'm not real good at reading those OS/X samples - it looks a bit like layout is going a bit crazy displaying some box frames, but maybe that's because we're invalidating a lot of rows. It could be that when you wake up from sleep, we start generating events like crazy to run all the biffs, etc, that have been stalled.

Do you have any giant folders?

I'll usually let it run for five or ten minutes or so until my computer is really sluggish then I go hunt down what is causing it, find that it is shredder and kill it.  I have many giant folders - about 10 that are over 10,000 messages.  I have one that is about 20K messages and another that is 60K messages.  That might be part of the problem.  I can prune some of them -- they are all giant folders of bugmail.

think you need to determine the offending folder/message(s).

I have not seen this behavior since moving to thunderbird 3 final.  I've been using it since it came out in november.  I have seen some infinite (or very very long) loops while doing searches, but I haven't seen this behavior (this was opening a folder and trying to see the new messages in the folder).

We can mark WFM if no one else is reporting this.
