I have had two people ask me about this problem this week, and I'm not sure what is causing it. It appears to happen with bot connections to ircs://irc.mozilla.org:6697 when ssl is enabled. This happens on mozilla irc and other servers, so it doesn't seem to be exclusive to moznet. Changing the port, server, and ssl setting don't fix it.

Here is the config that produced the output from before.
Also, could this have to do with the number of default connections per ip address? I know I've had problems similar to this in the past, but I thought those manifested themselves later in mozbot's connection process.

the IRC server name should just be the fully-qualified domain name of the irc server.. no protocol.. so irc://irc.mozilla.org is wrong.. it should just be irc.mozilla.org
In the output, it also has difficulty contacting a mail server.. is that value set correctly? If so, it points towards a firewall problem.

A firewall problem is possible. We tried the domain without the protocol, and it returned the same error.

Might try isolating the problem to see if its SSL specific..
irc.mozilla.org
port 6667
answer 'no' to the SSL question.
