Hmm, I thought I had already tried it in Safe Mode... trying it now makes no difference; the bug still appears in Safe Mode. A further observation: the address hover highlight is messed up as well when right-clicking an address in a new window. What's more (as I just noticed), the window title is also wrong: it randomly grabs a completely different message's subject and uses it for the title. That is probably also related.

Tried it in a new profile, could not repro, so I'm assuming this is some kind of problem with e.g. my GloDa or .msf index or something like that. (Or else some subtlety of having multiple accounts.) Recreating GloDa index now.

After recreating the GloDa index: I can repro in my usual profile by opening messages from the Smart Folder inbox, but not by opening messages from its subfolders. Not certain whether this behavior was the same before recreating the index. Aureliano, could you try in Smart Folders mode? After recreating .msf files: no apparent change.

Was now able to confirm in new profile, after adding another mail account. I'm not able to reproduce in tabs any longer, only new windows; I don't know why tabs worked originally to repro the bug. Therefore, adjusted steps to reproduce: 0a. Ensure you have at least two (IMAP; POP untested) accounts 0b. Ensure you're in smart folders view, with the smart Inbox selected in the folder pane (NOT any of its subfolders) 1. Right-click/context-click a message in the message pane 2. Select 'Open Message in New Window' from the context menu 3. In the new window, right-click/context-click on the From: or To: address in the header Expected/actual results as previous. Steps that do NOT reproduce the bug, or no longer reproduce it: * Opening messages in tabs * Selecting a message in the preview pane * Selecting an account-specific inbox in the folder pane, then opening any of its messages in new windows
