I don't believe it's a Javascript issue with the snowflakes on this page and more of a rendering issue of some sort.  Filing this bug as per comment 13 in Bug 470831. Minefield seems to be hogging 1 core on my Core2Quad while this URL is in the active tab. When I switch to another tab, Minefield is no longer using 100% of that core.
