When I use in-page search, I oftenly miss possibly relevant matches due to: different word forms in query and the page, typos (either in query or in page, where they're difficult to predict), different words order etc. That's especially unpleasant when searching long texts. These issues are the ones that web search engines like Google have to deal with. But Google can't be used to find different occurences on the same page (and it wouldn't be convenient anyway). So the idea is to make in-page search closer in features to web search, extending it in the following ways: - try all possible wordforms (user could choose, to what extent) - try to fix typos in query (when they're obvious) and ignore them in page (some number of false positives acceptable here) - allow different words order and some number of words between (which would be set by default, but could be changed by user if necessary) - maybe some other web search features that will be useful (even synonyms) When clicking "Next", browser could jump to matches according to their order in page (traditionally), or optionally to their relevance (best matches first). So here I would like to hear any comments on the idea. I initially posted this as an addon idea at http://forums-test.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1573455 but got no response at all. Thanks, Alex Reproducible: Always
