(In reply to comment #0) If I remember correctly this is pulled from our "branches" table. Looking at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/admin/branch_data_sources 4.0a1pre is the newest development build in that table, which allows for reports like http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/topcrasher/byversion/Firefox/4.0a1pre to be created. Deleting 4.0a1pre, which seems like the wrong thing to do, would be the fix for this bug. How should this work?
This URL, for instance http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/?product=Firefox&version=Firefox%3A3.7a1pre shows the product and version selected in the 'filter' box, but doesn't change the hover text mentioned by Nick. Should it? That way, people could bookmark their own version's front page at crash-stats.
So, the issue here is that Firefox 4.0a1pre "shipped" a long, long time ago, then we changed the version number back to something lower (3.2a1pre, iirc). Now the reports from those users are useless. We need a way to "hide" specific versions. We'll need to unhide it when trunk becomes 4.0a1pre again.
What Sam said.
(In reply to comment #3) Delete it via the admin panel. Effects - removes any trend reports for 4.0a1pre (no biggie) - removes it from the search form (probably okay) - removes it from navigation widgets ss has the power and the panache to make this happen.

So, deleted. (Had I known this was the appropriate behavior, I wouldn't have told Nick to file a bug. gtk!) When deleting, I received a "Connection Interrupted" error. Reloading the page showed that it was deleted though.
