531707 - Firefox 3.5.5 becomes unusable with constant unresponsive script warning dialog boxes when I try to check and read my Gmail

When I attempt to check my Gmail inbox Firefox will hang for a bit, then I will  receive unresponsive script warning dialogs. When I click to stop the script, the machine hangs, and another dialog box pops up. The boxes have content similar to the following:

"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Firefox is totally unusable with gmail

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Firefox
2. Navigate to gmail.com
3. log into gmail account
4. Go to Inbox
5. Attempt to read messages
Actual Results:  
Unresponsive Script Warning Dialog Boxes and unresponsive Firefox.

Expected Results:  
Access to my inbox and Gmail mail messages.

I have the same problem when I run firefox -safe-mode to make sure all add-ons are disabled.  I'm running Mandriva 2010 on a 32 bit Athlon XP.

The problem occurs with the Firefox 3.5.5 distributed with Mandriva 2010. I installed the Mozilla Firefox tarball under /usr/local/lib as a workaround, and
things work fine from there. Thus it's really a Mandriva build or configuration problem. I've opened a report there as well,

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
