This is a meta/tracker bug for all problems that relate to Thunderbird's handling of Junk, both functionality of junk filters and UI problems with the junk settings, manual junk handling etc.

Please add any relevant bugs to the "Depends on" field of this bug.
Usually, don't add comments with specific or general proposals, these should go into separate bugs. The main function of this bug is to provide a list / overview of all junk-related problems, not to discuss them.

Wow Thomas, I didn't know that you cared so much!

Junk bugs would normally be in the mailnews core/filters category, and would not be Thunderbird specific.

Personally, I find metabugs mostly useful when there is an individual or group who truly plans to work on the specific bugs in the list. Do you plan to try to address some of these bugs yourself? Or are you trying to motivate others (which mostly means me at the moment)?

Perhaps I should add that what I often find missing in mailnews QA efforts is some attempt to prioritize the bugs. A list of 111 bugs (as this meta bug is) is not really of much use to me, so I hope it is useful to you, Thomas. What *would* be useful to me, as someone who would actually fix bugs, is if you could go through this list, and pick 2-3 bugs that are clearly reproducible, confirmed occur in current trunk, important, and not likely to be really difficult to fix.

along those lines, also helpful:
* adjusting severity to minor, enh, major, etc
* add testcase keyword if reproducible steps or test file is available
* improving summary

bear in mind, it's faster to get a sense a bug in queries and bugmail via anything *other* than bug comments.
