...it is stated under "Don't ask at startup":

"If you have multiple profiles, Firefox prompts you for the profile to use each time you start Firefox. Select this option to allow Firefox to load the selected profile without prompting at startup."

...however when there are multiple profiles in existence the profile manager never appears during startup.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create multiple profiles.
2. Close Firefox.
3. Start Firefox and the last profile used starts.
Actual Results:  
The profile manager fails to appear.

Expected Results:  
The profile manager should appear.

Open firefox by running /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager from Terminal Uncheck the box for do not ask at startup. You will then be prompted to choose a profile each time you start Firefox.

In my test on XP SP3 'Do not ask at startup' is the default.

The documentation made need to be clarified.
