Details
(Whiteboard: [CLOSEME 2011-1-30])
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b4) Gecko/20091124 Firefox/3.6b4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b4) Gecko/20091124 Firefox/3.6b4
I attempted to print a page to "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" (one of the two printer choices given in the dialog box). Once I clicked OK to start the printing, I got a dialog box:
Printing (Not Responding) [x]
Title: Join our exciting new club
Progress: Preparing... [Cancel]
I had two Firefox windows open; both showed as "Not Responding". Microsoft generated the details when I tried closing the dialog box (see Additional Information).
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a web page
2. Click File->Print
3. Choose "Microsoft XPS Document Writer", click OK
Actual Results:
Firefox hung.
Expected Results:
The page should have been sent to Microsoft XPS Document Writer for printing, or an error.

[1] After reporting this, I tried to reproduce by printing the page I was at at bugzilla.mozilla.org, and was able to reproduce the problem.
[2] The first time this happened, I let the computer run for about an hour, with no response (e.g. it wasn't a temporary 'Not Responding').
[3] This is on 64-bit Windows 7, a nearly fresh install.

After using the computer further, I noticed that there were two "Save As..." dialog boxes open. Apparently, these were being displayed under the Firefox window, where they could not be seen. When I tried again to reproduce the issue, the dialog box properly displays over the Firefox window.
So the issues are [1] whether Firefox or Microsoft caused the "Save As..." dialog window to appear behind the Firefox window, and [2] if a Microsoft issue, whether this is worth dealing with (e.g. you Firefox is unusable until the user discovers the "Save As..." dialog box).
I think it's a bug with the XPS writer, it can happen with other applications as well.

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
