The website gives the error "no file selected to upload".  But when I do it in IE it works with no problem.  I cannot tell if this is Firefox's fault of a website coding to IE rather than standards.

Did you contacted the website ?
There is a difference in Fileuploads between IE and Firefox.
Firefox doesn't send the whole path of the file to the site for privacy reasons.

Firefox : resume.doc
IE: c:\Fritz\secret\directory\resume.doc

It's the US government job website and my friend is applying.  I'm not sure who I'd contact.  One good thing would be independent verification but I'm not sure who else wants to create an account and upload a resume.

What happens if you try to upload a different file type? For example, a .doc instead of .docx, or pdf instead of .doc...

Tim, I just tried it out -- not contacting USA jobs -- and it works now.  So I'm resolving worksforme.  (Sorry about the delay, must not have noticed the email.)
