do you see this started in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

This is usually caused by an addon (such as ghostery), so please try disabling them, starting safe mode, or creating a new profile.
I have the same problem in Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 2 You close firefox... but sometimes... the process is still there as firefox.exe in my case is taking a 25% of resources of my sysem This is very annoying because you have to stop the process manually! please, fix this as soon as possible I'm sure many people don't realice this problem because they are not monitoring the processes in windows, but I tell you this is happening and the proces don't close properly. PLEASE, FIX IT !!!!
pepeman, please, try the steps given above before commenting. This is probably caused by an addon.
