Laura, do you want this done now or with the 3.6 launch?

This is setup in the firefox3.6 branch in r57499. There's a new copy of the 3.5 press kit page for 3.6: http://www-3.6.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/press/kit-3-6.html Note: this page only includes the en-US version of the kit.

There are a few more changes we need to make before this page is ready to go: Can we change the link for the Fastest Firefox video and change it to link to "Five Years of Firefox" site (the link should say "Five Years of Firefox" {http://www.spreadfirefox.com/5years/en-US/}). Can we also remove the "Open Video..." link completely. Melissa will add the correct link to the Press Release (I believe) We may also need to remove the FAQ link but I will confirm this and Melissa's ability to change the link to the Press Release tomorrow.
Depends on: 533511

In response to comment 6, Melissa can automatically add the correct blogpost link to the Press Release when it is ready. She is currently working on the FAQ and will have it for eoweek. Then we can the copy to a new page and link to it from the press kit. Thanks for your patience.

Here is the Final copy for the FAQ. I think we're all set once this has been added to the staged page.

The FAQ has been added to the 3.6 branch in r58980. An empty template for the 3.6 release announcement press release can be found here: http://www-3.6.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/press/mozilla-2010-X-X.html The FAQ can be found here: http://www-3.6.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/press/mozilla-2010-X-X-faq.html

You are absolutely right. Excellent catch! I will get the new graphic tomorrow and reupload to all the reviewer's guides and get Steven to upload a new PDF. Thank you, Kohei.

You rock my socks off. That is all.
Looks great; the announcement and the FAQ will both be updated in a separate bug or here, Melissa/John?

The FAQ is final (doesn't need a date, per se). I believe the Press Release will be done separately.
Comment 20•13 years ago
|
||
That's right, we'll be doing a separate bug for the release (which will be ready soon, I think).

(In reply to comment #15) The performance chart says "Results of ... Window XP machine" but those images says Windows 7: http://www-3.6.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html#feature-performance http://www-3.6.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/underthehood/ Hmm...

One more thing besides the rev guide... We'd to add a link to the Blogpost from the FAQ page.

Thanks Kohei! From now on we're going to call you Eagle-Eye Kohei ;) I think we'll leave that innaccuracy, mainly because that means having to change references all over the 3.6 version of the site. With launch so imminent (supposedly), I'd rather not make such a huge scale change. Thanks!

To add to what Laura said, we actually decided to not to update the number on the website and other places because the content had already been localized with 30k as the figure. Our thought was that 30k was impressive enough, and it wasn't worth the extra trouble for the localizers to make a relatively minor change. Going forward, we'll have to figure out a better strategy for once we pass really big milestones, like 50 or 100k, but that's an issue for another discussion.

I forgot one thing: We will also need to put a link to the "What's New in 3.6" video in the Press Center, kind of like the link we have for the 5yrs of Firefox. Instead it should say, "What's New in Firefox 3.6 Video"

Does the "Five Years of Firefox" stay as well?

I was looking at the staged version of the page and I see a link for "View Press Release" at the top of the page, so I think it's already done? Also, I dont see the 5yrs of Firefox video link anymore...

Agreed--Closing. I don't think we need another bug because the link I sent you will go live when everything else goes live...so I think we're set?
