Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 Build Identifier: 2.0.0.23 It's a silly thing to do I guess, but I composed a message (plain text I guess, format set to Auto-Detect) and inserted an image. The image showed up fine in the message compose window, success! Sent the message. Image simply no longer exists, fail! Only seems to work if I manually set the Format to one of the HTML options. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Compose new message, Format = Auto-Detect. 2. Insert image. 3. Send message. Actual Results: Message sends fine, but image just simply goes into limbo. Expected Results: I would have expected the image to simply not insert / menu item greyed out if there was no way it was going to send, or get a message when I hit send that this isn't going to work, and/or have the option to send as html or whatever it would take to work. Obviously not an experienced bug submitter! I all around love Thunderbird. Just a small annoyance I noticed recently.

In Thunderbird 3.0 to be released today we changed the default value for sending emails -> we now send Text+html by default. This solves your issue. The 2.x branch is a maintainence and security only branch - this bug won't be fixed on 2.x.
