Every so often my firefox randomly opens the Mozilla firefox index, and another tab with www.(variousrandomseemingcharacters).com

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open firefox.
2. Choose some options or try to open new tabs
Actual Results:  
Random tabs appear pretty consistently, often in mass of 2 up to 6

Expected Results:  
None of this should have happened.

I have a suspicion it may be a trojan. I have done various scans and removes many trojans recently, none of the removals has stopped this problem.

Please retest in safe-mode, with a new profile, and a re-installation in a new empty directory.

If there are still problems, the chance is increased that you didn't remove all spyware from your computer.

This bug has had the CLOSEME tag for several weeks and the date in the tag is
far gone. If the reporter can still see this issue, Please retest with Firefox
3.6.x or later and a new profile
(http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Then please remove the
closeme tag in the whiteboard, mark the bug against the proper version and
comment on the bug.
