Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091130 Thunderbird/3.0

ThunderBird is configured to 'Fetch Headers Only'.
After upgrading to ThunderBird 3.0 Beta 4 PortableApp (from previous PA beta)
1)a double-click on a non-downloaded EMail (which opens a new tab or window), 2)a click on the 'click' in 'Click here to download the rest of the message', the 'Loading Message' displays in the status bar.
However, the message does not display. If the tab|window is closed and then the message is selected in the inbox, the message displays in the right panel. This behavior started with ThunderBird Beta 4.

After updating to ThunderBird RC1 PortableApp, The problem still exists.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Double-click on a non-downloaded EMail (which opens a new tab or window)
2. Click on the 'click' in 'Click here to download the rest of the message
3.
Actual Results:
The 'Loading Message' displays in the status bar.
However, the message does not display. If the tab|window is closed and then the message is selected in the inbox, the message displays in the right panel. This behavior started with ThunderBird Beta 4.

After updating to ThunderBird RC1 PortableApp, The problem still exists.

Expected Results:
The message should display in the new tab|window
I have a similar problem, which I suspect to be the same bug. In the global smart-folder "Inbox" the download link does not work as well.

When I go to the folder for the account and click there the link. the messages gets replaced by the newly downloaded complete message.

I have (among others) an POP3-account that is configured to download only the headers. And the "header only" messages appear in the global Inbox folder. But I can't download the message body from there. Also not when I open the mail in a new tab. It seems only to work when I am in the account specific sub-folder of Inbox.

But I don't see any 'Loading Message' text in the status-bar.
Parkhideh, can you reproduce this?

> Parkhideh, can you reproduce this?

Wayne, my answer may be incorrect because of my setup. That is I downloaded the Thunderbird version 3.1.9 from PortableApps web site and then couldn't find a way to transfer my current data from either Thunderbird 3.1.2 (installed) or Thunderbird for U3: version 1.5.0.4 (20060516). Neither Import or anything else did the job.

Anyway to get the job done I copied what files seemed appropriate from my U3 version 1.5.0.4 to this new portable version 3.1.9 folders. Then I ran the portable this way:
a) Sent three e-mails from another system.
b) Set the "Check Headers only"
c) Manually clicked on "Get Mail" (was asked for the password)
d) All three e-mails appeared in the inbox, showing their size.
e) Double clicked each one in the inbox, a new tab appeared with the message stated in item 2 of the original bug report.
f) Clicked on the "here" of "Click here ....." and the message body appeared under its tab.
g) I could selectively do this and everything worked as in U3 version 1.5 of Thunderbird.

So I cannot confirm the bug as stated, but under maybe my incorrect setup.

Please read my next comment.

Because I did not want to give my password to an incorrectly setup Thunderbird; the box to remember password was not checked when manually did the "Get Mail".

Now closed Thunderbird and reopened it. I had downloaded two of the three e-mails whose headers were already downloaded.

a) I can see all three under the inbox tab.
b) I can see the body of two and the header of one under the next three tabs that opens as I double click them in inbox.
c) Repeated the Clicked on the "here" of "Click here ....." for the one e-mail not downloaded so far.
d) The behavior is as reported in the bug report above. Meaning I cannot see the message downloading.
e) The problem is that Thunderbird does not have my password, and it does not display the box asking for it. So we all sit looking at each other. :)
f) I guess that may be a way to create the problem.
g) Went back to the inbox and did a "Get Mail", which asked me for the password.
h) Repeating e) now works as reported in my previous comment.

Can some body tell me how to synchronize the portable Thunderbird's data and settings to an installed Thunderbird setup? :)
David, can you reproduce this (minus the portable apps bit)

Reporters, can you still reproduce thiss?

I know nothing about this bug report. This appears quite different from how I use Thunderbird.

For example, I always request to download the entire message up to 70 KB. For larger messages, selecting the link to download the rest the the message always works for me other than as reported in bug #1297538.

(Some days I think we should get rid of "fetch headers only")

can you copy the profile? (you might need to mung some directory names)
