I cannot make TB delete all junk mails in the common inbox folder (the new feature; the folder that combines all account's inboxes). The menu items are disabled. 

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
I selected the common inbox and the items are deactivated. There appears to be no way to delete junk in the main inbox folder (that is the root folder of a mail account). 


Actual Results:  
Nothing. Items remain disabled.

Expected Results:  
Well, the menu items for deleting junk in the current folder should be enabled even in the common inbox.

I don't really know if this actually IS a bug or if I'm just to stupid to figure out how to use the junk filter in combination with the common inbox. Nevertheless it appears to me as a broken major feature. Hence I decided to set this ticket's severity to major.

Funny thing is that if no folder is selected - menu items are available.

Hendrik, please always describe steps precisely with exact names of actions and menus you use and see (for example where and "how" you click  or might click) so those of us who don't use or know that function can better understand. For example I have never heard of an "extras" menu.  Please adjust summary accordingly.

bugs with workarounds typically aren't labeled "major". (I'm guessing this action can still be done in the respective account folders) In fact, they tend to have severity=minor

the first part shows the context menu of the Junk mail smart folder, the second one shows the context menu of "physical" (not smart) junk mail folder.
As you can see, the last one has more options, the highlighted one is "empty junk", but there are also other ones:
"Cerca..." -> search
"Sottoscrivi..." -> subscribe
"Nuova sottocartella..." -> new sub-folder
"Compatta" -> compact folder (is it the right translation?)
"Marca la cartella come letta" -> mark folder as read

I think that at least an "empty junk" entry should be added

Smart folders are just virtual folders, and support for full functionality does not exist for virtual folders. The junk issue is I believe covered in bug 438656.

Is there no way to add this functionality to virtual folders, at least to these two "special" ones (junk+trash)?

It isn't hard to add, it just takes time. I assigned the bug to myself ages ago, but I have been ignoring it.

What happened is that virtual folders were sort of second class citizens until they became the root of "Smart folders", then suddenly they became the recommended method to access email, and all of the limitations of virtual folders became apparent. That importance was lost on at least me until 3.0 shipped and some of these issues started popping up.
