I've just seen a report on get satisfaction that we offered a 10.3.9 user a major update to Thunderbird 3 even though we don't support 10.3 with Thunderbird 3: http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/need_to_downgrade_because_old_system_mac_osx_10_3_9 Looking at the aus code, there is some configuration in there for Firefox 2 that means users on unsupported platforms don't get served updates: http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsblame.cgi?file=mozilla/webtools/aus/xml/inc/config-dist.php&rev=1.56&mark=193-213#169 I believe we can just duplicate that config for TB 3 and we'll be fine (the system requirements between FF 3 & FF 3.5 didn't change, so no additions needed).

Adding note that we need to resolve the GS report when this is fixed. gozer: Note, I know the bugs we need to file for MoCo aus are core, but we can use this as the tracker (and blocking 3.0.1) bug.

See dup bug about Win98. A user reported that it even broke the existing installation. He had to use backups of the install dir and profile folder to go back to TB2. Bad (dataloss).

Same is true of Windows OS's prior to Win2K per Bug 536050.

Yeah attachment 417108 [details] [diff] [review] on bug 534209 should cover that. I'd just rather get that bug fixed than pull updates.

ouch... anyone that uses Thunderbird will be offered this update within about 10 minutes after starting at this time.

(In reply to comment #7) > ouch... anyone that uses Thunderbird will be offered this update within about > 10 minutes after starting at this time. Errm no - we're fully throttled at the moment, so only people who explicitly go to Help -> Check For Updates will potentially hit this. We're not pushing updates for automatic checks at the moment.

Bug 534209 looks like a dup.

(In reply to comment #9) > Bug 534209 looks like a dup. Bug 534209 is the MoCo AUS bug that we need fixing before we can file an IT bug to update the live AUS service. As I mentioned in comment 1 and also indicated by the meta keyword, this bug is the tracker for getting the MoCo AUS fixed.

AUS has been updated, however I've just found out that Thunderbird 2 isn't supplying enough information to AUS (especially not on Linux and I'm pretty sure Windows too). I'm raising a new bug for the code change which I'll mark as blocking this one.

Moving to needed (from .1) - the solution now needs a Thunderbird 2 update and hence doesn't block us releasing 3.0.1 (but it will still block releasing a major update).

Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 is now live, and I've already confirm MUs don't get offered for Win98 users (on the betatest channel). Hence I believe this is now fixed.
