Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0

I'm not a Newbie--been using T'bird since version 0.7 on both Linux & Windows.

Upgrading to Thunderbird 3 on Windows broke my master password. Thunderbird knows it is there, but rejects the password that I've used for years.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to version 3
2. Launch
3. Enter old password
4. T'bird can't access data with correct password, so it keeps asking
Actual Results:
Thunderbird keeps asking for password. If I go into options, it says my password is incorrect. This is critical because it renders security data inaccessible (potentially destroyed, I don't know).

Lance,
your profile should be intact
 http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
reset master password per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password

everything all good after reset?
Component: Installer → Security
QA Contact: installer → thunderbird
Version: unspecified → 3.0

Yes, a reset seems to solve the problem. I figured there must be an easy way to delete all the old records. Thanks for the pointing the right direction.

I'm still not sure if this was a freak coincidence or if others will see this behavior as well.
