Since upgrading to Thunderbird 3.0, I noticed that my RSS feeds aren't exhibiting a consistent scroll position. With thunderbird 2.x, clicking on an RSS feed would consistently scroll the message list pane to the bottom, where the newest posts are. However, with 3.0, the message list pane is often scrolled up to the very top. The behavior is inconsistent
Could you clarify a bit your steps to reproduce ? 1 do A 2 do B Does this happen in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?
Keywords: regression
The steps I used to reproduce the problem are: 1) Subscribe to several RSS feeds with Thunderbird 2.x 2) In the bottom left pane, click on each RSS feed 3) Upgrade to Thunderbird 3.0 4) In the bottom left pane, click on each RSS feed Actual results: 2: The top right pane will default to being scrolled to the bottom of the list (most recent entry) 4: The top right pane will default to being scrolled to the bottom, or it may default to somewhere near the top of the list. Expected results: The top right pane should default to being at the bottom of the list for every feed. Note: I have my RSS feeds configured to expire messages older than 30 days. And my Thunderbird 2.x account had been used to read RSS feeds for more than 30 days, so it was actively expiring messages. I exported my RSS subscription list to a file, deleted my feeds, and then imported the subscription list, and I do not have the problem anymore. So perhaps the problem is with importing TB 2.x profiles and/or with automatic expiration of RSS feed entries.
Note that after re-subscribing to RSS feeds and allowing them to populate long enough to have Thunderbird auto-expiring the posts, I've noticed that this problem has re-appeared.
I have a similar issue, also since upgrading to 3.0. In my case I don't expire posts, just use views to display only unread ones. I sort them by date/time with olders first and since TB 3.0, every time I switch from one feed to the other (any) the view scrolls all the way to the bottom, where newer posts are supposed to be. This is very anoying because I'm used to do M+N to mark a message and move to the next one, and also bacause if I ever wanted to read newer posts first the only thing I had to do was reverse the order. Note: I don't update feeds often, so at times I have posts spaning several days and there is no point in reading the newest posts first i.e. Planet Mozilla. Also having anything scroll to the bottom without user interaction feels really weird. Is there a setting to change this? I tried "scroll" in about:config but nothing useful came up. I also tried using a clean profile with new subscriptions and got the exact same behavior, so it might not be related to upgrading from older versions.
Something else: this happens also on Local Folders.
