Visit the URL and select any puzzle from the left column, wait and note that Java is not loaded.

Java doesn't work at all in mozilla-central, does it? We're waiting on the new Java plugin with NPAPI support instead of OJI. FWIW, the ipc plugin support currently only works on windows/linux: we haven't implemented it at all on mac, so flipping the pref won't make any difference.
Component: IPC → Plug-ins

Yes, Java works just fine in m-c builds on windows, and I assume other platforms since I've not seen anyone mention about it not working.

No, I'm talking about Mac specifically. We removed support for the "old style Java" with OJI. On Windows (and Linux) Sun has released new versions of Java with NPAPI support, but Apple hasn't done that on Mac yet.

Is this a dupe of bug 534866 or bug 534863, then?
Comment 7•15 years ago

Bug 534866 was windows-only IPP, and bug 534863 is OOPP only if there are spaces in the plugin path (which is normally windows-only). So I don't think this bug is a dup of either of those.

Testing with the latest m-c hourly build, Java now will load thanks to the fix in bug 534866, however, with dom.ipc.plugins enabled, Java apps still will not load. change title to reflect the change in behavior. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20091216 Minefield/3.7a1pre Firefox/3.6 ID:20091216073942 cset: http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/4eef63c0c6c9
Summary: OOPP: Java will not load whether ipc is on or off → OOPP: Java will not load whether ipc is on

Jigzone.com loads fine for me, but when I click on a puzzle link, the 16 December build of Minefield crashes. No crash reporter popup either. I have HTML5 enabled and IPC enabled.

With today's nightly, it seems that the e10s merge into m-c has fixed somthing, Java now loads with the IPC.plugin pref set to 'true', and no crashes here at jigzone. If others are ok, will close this shortly... Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20091217 Minefield/3.7a1pre Firefox/3.6 ID:20091217051833

https://litmus.mozilla.org/show_test.cgi?id=11591 added to Litmus to test Java functionality if it is enabled. There seems to be some other Java tests that somehow are in the Popups/Annoyances part of the BFT and I will probably either sunset them or move them into Plugins component.
