the status bar shows "done" for the page load, but the 3 boxes under "Status" on the page indicates in progress, band the list of plugins on my system is never shown.

Confirmed, I get "Checking with Mozilla HQ to check your plugins" constantly with no change over the last 15 minutes.

This error shows in the console with 3.5.5 and latest trunk build:
